Custom Molding of Speaker Cabinets & Baffles

Globe Plastics specializes in the custom molding of high quality composite parts for a variety of applications. In the project highlighted here, Globe was contracted by a customer in the audio industry to fabricate speaker cabinets and baffles for a consumer sound application to be shipped to the Customer's Contract Assembly Supplier in DongGuan, China. This surround sound system project called for precision high volume production, an area Globe excels in.

Utilizing state of the art 200 & 300 ton injection molding machines in Globe's tooling and production facility in China, AcoustaComp® composite molding material was processed in high volume to fulfill urgent holiday orders. The unit was treated with a protective 2 mil thick polyurethane coating for durability and aesthetic appeal. Comprehensive in process and post fabrication testing and inspections were carried out, including mechanical measurement, cosmetic, and NDT pull testing.

The finished unit is semi-gloss black in color, with overall dimensions of 4" - 12" in length, 4" - 6" in width, and 4" - 6" in height, and manufactured to tolerances of ± 0.005" with a .0015" shrinkage allowance. It also features a wall thickness of 4mm and the weight ranging between 150 - 400 grams. 200,000 - 500,000 units are produced annually and shipped to the customer, an original design manufacturer in China. The products and processes meet the rigorous standards as set ISO 9001:2008.
